On May 22, 2010, Doctor Jia Ligen, together with Doctor Li Yuelin, Liu Shicong, Chen Liwei, He Yinhong, et al, went to give the victims voluntary medical examination in Tumen, Gongxing and the hometown of Shifang Mazu in Mianzhu County – the earthquake-stricken areas of Sichuan. They set off at 7:30 am and returned to Chengdu at 8:00 pm. They made diagnosis for over 10 patients. In Tumen, the diseases diagnosed and treated included Parkinsonism, hypertension, arthralgia, sciatic, pain after the fracture steel fixation surgery on the right thigh, et al. In Gongxing, one woman, crushed by a collapsed house, had her 1st back bone fractured, which resulted in paralysis in the lower part of her body. In the hometown of Shifang Mazu, an eighteen-year-old high school boy suffered from the same paralysis with the fracture in his 12th back bone. They both were very satisfied with our treatment with the analgesic medicine we carried. However, as we didn’t take medicine for Parkinsonism and hypertension, we suggested they buy for themselves or wait for our supply next time. As for the paralyzed, we encouraged them to take rehabilitation therapy and psychological consultation.
Holy words: A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.
